Samsung microwave repair

Samsung builds heavily electronic appliances, so faults tend to show as error codes rather than obvious mechanical failures. That is useful: the code usually names the circuit before we arrive.

A microwave that runs but does not heat is a magnetron, a diode or a capacitor. A microwave that does nothing at all is usually a door interlock switch, which is a cheap part and the single most common failure in the appliance.

Microwave repair symptoms on a Samsung

These are the microwave faults we see on every brand. The Samsung-specific ones are listed underneath.

  • Runs but food stays cold

Magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor. All three sit in the high-voltage circuit.

  • Nothing happens when the door closes

A door interlock switch, the most common microwave fault by a wide margin.

  • Loud buzzing while running

A failing high-voltage transformer or a diode on its way out.

  • Turntable will not turn

The turntable motor or its coupler. Simple and inexpensive.

  • Sparking inside the cavity

Stop using it. A damaged waveguide cover or burnt cavity paint arcs and gets worse quickly.

  • Over-the-range fan or light dead

The vent fan motor or the lamp assembly, separate from the microwave circuit itself.

What tends to fail on Samsung

  • Ice makers freezing over in French-door refrigerators
  • 4C and 5E codes on washers, pointing at water supply and drainage
  • Twin Cooling evaporator fans icing up
  • Touch control panels on ranges losing response after a spill

  • Tim was very professional and did his job correctly but was sent a defective part. Ramin came and replaced the defective part and my stove works again. After an initial problem that wasn't their fault, masterfix did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to use them again. Thanks Tim and Ramin!

Questions we get asked

What goes wrong with Samsung microwaves?
Ice makers freezing over in French-door refrigerators is the fault we attend most on this combination. Samsung builds heavily electronic appliances, so faults tend to show as error codes rather than obvious mechanical failures. That is useful: the code usually names the circuit before we arrive.
Is it worth repairing a microwave?
For built-in, drawer and over-the-range units, usually yes. For a countertop model, the repair often costs more than a replacement and we will say so before you book.
Can I replace a door switch myself?
Please do not. The high-voltage capacitor holds a dangerous charge even with the appliance unplugged, and it sits right beside the switches.
Do you repair microwave drawer units?
Yes, including Sharp and Bosch drawer models. They need pulling from the cabinet, which adds time.
Do you carry Samsung parts for this?
We stock the common failures listed on this page. Anything model specific is ordered after the diagnosis, and we tell you the wait before you commit. Every part carries 90 days of warranty.
