Element and igniter work is about an hour. Board and lock jobs run longer.
Oven repair across Greater Boston
An oven that has drifted out of calibration ruins food long before it fails outright. If your cakes have started coming out dense and your roasts take an extra half hour, the temperature sensor is usually the reason, and it is an inexpensive part.
Complete no-heat failures split cleanly by fuel. Electric ovens lose the bake or broil element, which usually shows a visible break or blister. Gas ovens lose the igniter, which glows but no longer draws enough current to open the safety valve.
Self-cleaning cycles are the other common trigger. The extreme heat is hard on door locks, thermostats and control boards, and a fair number of oven repairs land the day after a clean cycle.

Oven repair symptoms we see every week
Recognise one of these and you already know most of what a technician needs to hear on the phone.
Oven will not heat at all
Bake element on electric, igniter on gas. Both are stocked parts and same-visit repairs.
Food burns or comes out underdone
The temperature sensor has drifted. We measure the actual cavity temperature against the setpoint before replacing anything.
Door is locked after a cleaning cycle
The door lock motor or its switch has failed while hot. Common on every brand that offers self-clean.
Display shows an error code
Codes map to a sensor, a relay or the board itself. Have the code ready when you book.
Broiler works but bake does not
That points squarely at the bake element or its relay, since the two circuits are separate.
Oven turns itself off mid-cook
Thermal cutoff, cooling fan failure, or a control board overheating behind the panel.
On the van
These are the parts we carry as stock, which is why most repairs finish without a second visit. Element and igniter work is about an hour. Board and lock jobs run longer.

How a repair visit actually goes
No four-hour windows, no diagnosis-by-phone, no price that changes once the panel is off.
- 1
You tell us what it is doing
Three questions online, or one phone call. The more specific the symptom, the better the odds the right part rides along on the first visit.
- 2
We confirm a two-hour window
Not a morning, not an all-day wait. We call back to agree a window and ring again when the van is close.
- 3
Diagnosis, then a flat price
The technician finds the fault and quotes the whole repair before touching anything. If you decline, you pay the diagnostic and nothing more.
- 4
Repaired, with 90 days behind it
Most repairs finish in the same visit. Parts and labour carry a 90-day warranty.

What people said after a oven repair
Every review below is copied word for word from the company's public Thumbtack profile.
Tim was very professional and did his job correctly but was sent a defective part. Ramin came and replaced the defective part and my stove works again. After an initial problem that wasn't their fault, masterfix did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to use them again. Thanks Tim and Ramin!
Master fix came out quickly and got my stove working with no fuss. Great service
Bouston was very professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and had the parts replaced quickly. I am very pleased with the results.
Thank you so much! Great customer service. Came and fixed our washer, looks good as new! Hire him
My dryer was fixed immediately and the contractor gave me filter change recommendations. However, it was not cheap.
He was very responsive to messages and was available for a quick diagnosis and a fix. Did a great job!
Oven repair questions
- My oven bakes unevenly. Is that repairable?
- Usually. It is either a drifting sensor, a failing convection fan, or a door that no longer seals because the hinges have sagged. All three are fixable.
- Is the self-cleaning cycle bad for the oven?
- It is hard on the electronics. If you use it, run it when you have time to deal with a failure afterwards, and never right before a holiday you are cooking for.
- Do you work on double wall ovens?
- Yes. They need pulling from the cabinet, which is a two-person lift on most models, so we schedule accordingly.
- Can you repair the oven in a range without touching the cooktop?
- Yes. The oven cavity and the surface burners are separate systems on almost every range.
