MasterFix Appliance Repair

Burner and element repairs are typically under an hour.

Range repair across Greater Boston

A range is two appliances sharing one cabinet, and they fail independently. Surface burners have their own igniters, switches and infinite controls; the oven below has its own element or igniter and its own sensor.

Gas ranges most often arrive with a burner that clicks endlessly without lighting. That is a spark module or a wet, misaligned igniter, and both are quick. Electric ranges more often lose a coil element or a radiant element under the glass.

Slide-in and professional ranges from Wolf, Viking, Bertazzoni and Thermador use different burner assemblies and heavier gas trains, and we carry the diagnostic tooling for them.

A home range of the kind we repair

Range repair symptoms we see every week

Recognise one of these and you already know most of what a technician needs to hear on the phone.

  • Burner clicks but will not light

A wet or misaligned igniter, or a spark module firing on the wrong electrode. Cleaning and alignment fixes most of these.

  • One surface element stays cold

The element itself, the receptacle it plugs into, or the infinite switch behind the knob.

  • Burner flame is yellow or uneven

A blocked burner port or an air shutter out of adjustment. Yellow flame also means incomplete combustion, so it is worth attending to.

  • Element heats on full regardless of the setting

The infinite switch has welded its contacts closed. Replace it rather than working around it.

  • Touch controls unresponsive

Control panel or main board, sometimes after a spill got behind the glass.

  • Gas smell near the range

Shut the gas off at the valve, ventilate, and call the gas utility before you call us.

On the van

These are the parts we carry as stock, which is why most repairs finish without a second visit. Burner and element repairs are typically under an hour.

  • Surface and radiant elements
  • Spark modules and igniters
  • Infinite switches and knobs
  • Burner caps, heads and orifices
  • Element receptacles
  • Control boards

How a repair visit actually goes

No four-hour windows, no diagnosis-by-phone, no price that changes once the panel is off.

  1. 1

You tell us what it is doing

Three questions online, or one phone call. The more specific the symptom, the better the odds the right part rides along on the first visit.

  2. 2

    We confirm a two-hour window

Not a morning, not an all-day wait. We call back to agree a window and ring again when the van is close.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis, then a flat price

The technician finds the fault and quotes the whole repair before touching anything. If you decline, you pay the diagnostic and nothing more.

  4. 4

Repaired, with 90 days behind it

Most repairs finish in the same visit. Parts and labour carry a 90-day warranty.

Range repair questions

One burner clicks constantly, even when it is off.
Moisture in the switch or the igniter. Drying it out fixes a lot of them; if it does not, the switch is worn and needs replacing.
Can you convert a range between natural gas and propane?
Yes, where the manufacturer supplies a conversion kit for that model. It is a jet change plus a regulator adjustment.
Do you service professional ranges?
Yes, including Wolf, Viking, Thermador and Bertazzoni. Parts for these are less commonly stocked, so some jobs need a second visit.
The oven works but no surface burner lights.
That is the spark module or its power supply, since all the surface igniters share one module.
