Usually 60 to 90 minutes, including pulling and reseating the unit.

Dishwasher repair across Greater Boston

Dishwashers rarely die outright. They decline: dishes come out gritty, then a film appears, then there is water in the bottom every morning. By the time most people call, two or three small faults have stacked up.

The mechanical causes are simple and mostly cheap. A clogged filter and spray arms cut the wash pressure. A tired drain pump or a blocked air gap leaves standing water. A failed heating element means the final rinse never reaches drying temperature, so everything stays wet.

Built-in dishwashers also need pulling from the cabinet to work on, so we allow for the plumbing and the electrical disconnect rather than rushing it.

A home dishwasher of the kind we repair

Dishwasher repair symptoms we see every week

Recognise one of these and you already know most of what a technician needs to hear on the phone.

  • Dishes come out dirty or gritty

Blocked filter and spray arm jets, low water fill, or a wash pump that has lost pressure.

  • Water standing in the bottom after a cycle

Drain pump, a blocked drain hose, or a check valve that is letting water back in from the disposal.

  • Leaking onto the kitchen floor

Door gasket, the pump seal, or a split fill hose. Finding which one requires running the machine with the panel off.

  • Will not start or the door will not latch

Door latch switch, the touch panel, or a control board that no longer sees the door as closed.

  • White film on glassware

Hard water plus a rinse aid dispenser that has stopped dosing. Common across Greater Boston's water supply.

  • Dishes still wet at the end

The heating element or the high-limit thermostat has failed, so the drying phase never gets to temperature.

On the van

These are the parts we carry as stock, which is why most repairs finish without a second visit. Usually 60 to 90 minutes, including pulling and reseating the unit.

  • Drain and wash pumps
  • Door latches and latch switches
  • Heating elements and thermostats
  • Spray arms, filters and check valves
  • Door gaskets and tub seals
  • Water inlet valves

How a repair visit actually goes

No four-hour windows, no diagnosis-by-phone, no price that changes once the panel is off.

  1. 1

You tell us what it is doing

Three questions online, or one phone call. The more specific the symptom, the better the odds the right part rides along on the first visit.

  2. 2

    We confirm a two-hour window

Not a morning, not an all-day wait. We call back to agree a window and ring again when the van is close.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis, then a flat price

The technician finds the fault and quotes the whole repair before touching anything. If you decline, you pay the diagnostic and nothing more.

  4. 4

Repaired, with 90 days behind it

Most repairs finish in the same visit. Parts and labour carry a 90-day warranty.

Dishwasher repair questions

Why does my dishwasher smell?
Food trapped in the filter and the spray arm jets. Pull the filter, rinse it under a tap, and clear the jets with a toothpick. If the smell survives that, the drain hose is holding water.
Is it the dishwasher or the garbage disposal?
If the disposal is new, check that the knockout plug was removed from the dishwasher inlet. It is the most common cause of a brand new dishwasher that will not drain.
Do you repair panel-ready and integrated dishwashers?
Yes, including Bosch, Miele and Thermador integrated units. Cabinet panels come off and go back on as part of the job.
How long should a dishwasher last?
Ten to twelve years is normal. Past that, we will tell you honestly when a repair is buying you a year rather than a decade.
