Jenn-Air cooktop repair

• One zone will not heat

  The element or induction coil, its relay on the board, or a limiter that has opened.

• Induction zone cuts out after a few minutes

  Cooling fan or thermal protection. The unit is shutting itself down to avoid overheating.

• Touch controls unresponsive or erratic

  Moisture under the glass or a failed control panel. Spills that seep past the seal are the usual cause.

• Error code on an induction cooktop

  Most codes point at pan detection, temperature or the inverter board. The code narrows it quickly.

• Cracked glass surface

  A cracked top must be replaced rather than repaired. We can quote the panel and tell you if it is worth doing.

• Clicking without ignition on gas

  Igniter alignment, moisture, or a spark module fault, same as a gas range.

What goes wrong with Jenn-Air cooktops?

Downdraft cooktop blower motors is the fault we attend most on this combination. Jenn-Air sits at the top of the Whirlpool group, which means premium appliances with a parts supply that is far better than most luxury brands.

Is a cracked induction top dangerous to use?

Yes. Liquid reaching the electronics under a cracked surface is a shock and fire risk. Stop using that zone until the panel is replaced.

My induction cooktop does not recognise a pan.

Check the pan first with a magnet: if it does not stick firmly to the base, induction will not see it. If the pan is right, it is the detection circuit.

Can a single zone be replaced, or is it the whole cooktop?

Individual coils, elements and relays are replaceable on most models. The glass surface is the one part that has to be replaced whole.
